- SIPNOPSIS
Eighteam is a documentary film that shows the journey of the Chipolopolo (“copper bullets”, the nickname of the Zambian national soccer team) from tragedy to glory: in 1993, the promising Zambian team, which beat Italy 4-0 and had its eyes set on the 1994 World Cup, crashed in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Gabon. All passengers and crew, including 18 players of the Zambian national team, are killed in the accident. Eighteen years and a few months later, destiny gave Zambia a twist of fate: in Gabon, near the site of the accident, Zambia became African champions for the first time in its history. The victory came after a long penalty shootout. It was written: 18 penalties.
